Our Journey
Design for Scientific Renaissance (DSR) is a distinguished educational, research, and training institution committed to advancing knowledge and promoting lifelong learning. Since its incorporation in 2010, DSR has actively contributed to academia through the organization of conferences, publication of peer-reviewed research papers, and management of internationally recognized journals.
With its headquarters strategically located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, DSR is at the forefront of educational excellence and continuous development. Over the past years, DSR has expanded it’s scope to become an accredited HRDCorp training provider, offering professional qualifications, including a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program designed to equip professionals with leadership and managerial expertise.
In alignment with our mission to foster lifelong learning, DSR has extended its portfolio to include diverse educational offerings. These include a Kindergarten, a Special Education Centre dedicated to supporting students with unique learning needs, and a Language Centre that nurtures multilingual proficiency.

The Founder
Dato’ Dr. Mahmoud Khalid Almsafir is a visionary academic leader, educator, and diplomat with a career spanning more than 30 years. He is the Chairman of Design for Scientific Renaissance (DSR) Sdn Bhd, an institution he established in 2009 to foster scientific research and academic collaboration. Under his leadership, DSR has hosted numerous international conferences and published over 10 multidisciplinary research journals, attracting scholars from across the globe.
Dato’ Dr. Mahmoud, a Malaysian citizen of Arab descent, holds a Ph.D. in International and Financial Economics from the University of Baghdad, along with qualifications in diplomacy and international affairs. His career began at Baghdad University, where he lectured in economics for several years. In Malaysia, he served as an Associate Professor at University Tenaga National (UNITEN), supervising 15 PhD candidates and over 22 master’s students, while heading the Global Business Centre.
In the realm of diplomacy, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud served as the Charge d’Affaires at the Iraqi Embassy in Kuala Lumpur from 2003 to 2006. During this period, he facilitated the recognition of Malaysian universities by Iraq’s Ministry of Higher Education. His international roles also include representing Iraq at the Arab League and serving as a non-resident Special Advisor to the Secretary General of the Council of Arab Economic Unity (CAEU).
Dato’ Dr. Mahmoud’s outstanding achievements were formally recognized when he was conferred the title of Dato’ by the Sultan of Pahang, a prestigious honor reflecting his contributions to education and society. His humanitarian efforts include leading the evacuation of 200 Malaysian students from Yemen during the civil war in 2015 – 2016.
Through his leadership of DSR and AIS International School, Dato’ Dr. Mahmoud continues to shape the future of education, fostering knowledge, research, and community development on a global scale.
